Kathmandu: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has issued a warning about an increased risk of fires and forest fires across Nepal due to rising temperatures and minimal forecasted winter rainfall.

According to NDRRMA spokesperson Dr. Dijan Bhattarai, the lack of sufficient winter precipitation, combined with higher temperatures, has created conditions that could lead to a surge in fire incidents.

Current Fire Incidents
Dr. Bhattarai highlighted a recent forest fire in Bethanchowk rural municipality in Kavrepalanchowk, along with other similar incidents across the country. Efforts are currently underway to contain these fires, with the NDRRMA closely monitoring the situation.

Call for Preparedness
In a statement issued on Friday, the NDRRMA urged stakeholders and local authorities to remain vigilant and prepared for potential fire outbreaks. The authority emphasized the need for effective response measures to mitigate risks and protect lives and property.

This warning underscores the importance of proactive disaster management and public awareness as Nepal braces for potential fire hazards in the months ahead.
